Hi, I'm Annie
Journalist by way of photography, reporting and data. I'm interested in how we tell the stories that surround us, whether it's through words, visuals or interactive pieces built from code.
Currently, I'm a reporter at the Associated Press, where I cover education, race and inequality.
Previously, I covered Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for the Charlotte Observer. Before that, I spent my time in California covering local news for the San Francisco Chronicle and learning the ins and outs of putting together a magazine at Mother Jones. In college, I interned at The Oregonian, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Chalkbeat New York.
Over the summer of 2018, I was part of the Asian American Journalist Association's Voices program, reporting an investigative piece on the media industry's struggles with pay equity.
I graduated from Dartmouth College in June of 2017, where I studied a mix of political science, statistics and computer science. In 2016, I served as the executive editor of The Dartmouth, my college's print daily.
